BIG THANKS to the past Presidents for the outstanding 20th birthday party!

Brats and Bags is here again!

We are asking members to sell tickets, donate money, organize teams, or all of the above. Click on the left (up the page a bit) to register your team online. (Be sure to leave your team name in the information box on paypal.) Or turn in your registration flyer to Rhonda (cash or check only w/her).

You were given an envelope with tickets and flyers. Here are the directions:

The bottom line is: think like us (the committee). What information would you want/need, or how would you want things handled if you were asking 100 people to sell tickets for an event? Chances are, that’s what we want, too. Reduce ambiguity at all times. If you don’t know, ask.  Make things as crystal clear as possible for us, okay?

1.  The smaller square part of the ticket is their lunch ticket – the larger part with the address information is for our recordkeeping: PLEASE KEEP THIS BIGGER PART and TURN IT BACK IN! J  We only need name information for delivery – otherwise, honestly, we just don’t care for right now unless you want us to care who you’re selling tickets to (?).

2.  WE ONLY DELIVER 10+ LUNCHES. No exceptions. We will need their name & phone information if they’re requiring delivery of 10 lunches or more. BUT: we don’t need each individual person’s information of that 10+.

a.       For example, if John Doe and 9 of his colleagues at Widgets Incorporated want lunch, fill out John Doe’s information but not his 9 colleagues’ information – it’s John Doe’s problem to hand out food once it’s delivered, and he’ll happily do that for us. Then kindly paperclip or staple John Doe’s ticket stub (our portion) to the other 9 (or more) that go with it and have them all come in to us together.  This is important.
(If you put John’s name, and each of his colleagues’ names, it leaves a window of ambiguity for us regarding the order. We only want the contact person’s information, but we need the whole batch of tickets with it.  And if for some reason every single person on that order demands Diet Coke, mark that down somehow, but please make no guarantees. We’ll do the best we can to honor requests, but not everyone is going to get exactly what they want (Hint: the trick is to just not offer , right?))

3.  NO DELIVERY SALES within 48 hours of the event. No exceptions.  Delivery orders that came in the night before the event last time never made it out – because we were so in-the-weeds at that point.  We want to give good service, so we need to cut off delivery sales on 9/30

4.  Turn in your tickets-tubs (the informational part) to Rhonda. She likes stubs.  She’s also impeccably organized. Rhonda’s your gal, OK?

5.  Money was a bit of a logistical nightmare for us last year – please help us this year: MONEY ONLY COMES INTO US IN AN ENVELOPE WITH YOUR NAME ON IT AND A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT IT IS FOR AND HOW MUCH YOU’RE TURNING IN.  We won’t accept a wad of cash. We won’t take a check where you simply tell us “this is for brats.” Please don’t do that to us. Please??  We gave you a nice envelope with your name on it already – consider using it when you turn your stuff back in – just write on the back what it is for. MONEY ONLY GOES TO RHONDA. If you try to pass it off to someone other than Rhonda, you’ll get a stink-eye. :)  Again, Rhonda’s the gal.

Simple recap:
-Delivery only to 10 or more. Be sure to get their phone number.

-Sell tickets through the day of the event, but sell deliveries only until the 30th of Sept.

-Return stubs and money in an envelope w/your name and what the money is for to Rhonda. Sooner is better than later, ok?

We greatly appreciate all that you do. Thanks!

Information on Making up Meetings

A club member must attend or make up at least 50% of regular club meetings in each half of the year (though some clubs may have more stringent requirements). Any missed meetings must be made up within 14 days of a regular meeting.  If traveling, club members are encouraged to visit clubs in the new area to make up a missed meeting.

Local Meeting Make-up Sites:      Sunset Rotary          Bloomington Rotary          Normal Rotary

Or, use the Club Locator to get meeting and contact information. It is considerate to call or e-mail before you show up for a meeting.

Note - some clubs will fine you if you don't wear your Rotary pin.  It's a good idea to have it on (because technically we're supposed to wear our pins to every meeting) just in case. Also, be ready to sing; it is the rare club that doesn't sing!

What to do if you can't find a meeting?

Rotarians often wonder what to do if there’s not a club where they travel or if an emergency causes them to miss a meeting.

One option is to attend a regular meeting of a local Rotaract club, Interact club, Rotary Community Corps or Rotary Fellowship. Attending one of these meetings counts as a make-up. Be sure to get a make-up form if one is available.

Another option is to participate in an interactive activity on the Rotary e-club Web site.

If 5 Rotarians gather at any time for a planned or club-related event, including service, it counts as a make-up meeting.  Fill out the form above and give to Keith Palmgren (Secretary) as soon as possible thereafter. (Note - many of us are active throughout the community in a variety of ways.  When 5 or more Rotarians happen to find themselves at a non-Rotary-related community or social activity, it cannot count as a make-up meeting. Similarly, if 5 or more Rotarians decide to head out after work for an "adult recreational beverage," it does not count as a make-up meeting.  Make-up meetings should be in the spirit of Rotary.)

NOTE:  Members must provide documentation of all meeting make-ups to Keith Palmgren, Secretary.  Members can only receive credit for make-up meetings during the current month. (So if you attended a make up meeting the first week of July for a meeting you missed the last week of June, you wouldn't receive credit for it in June; you would receive credit for it towards any missed meetings in July only.  That is to say, all paperwork is closed out on the last day of each month and cannot be revisited. )
