[Skip Tools] Bloomington Normal Sunrise Rotary

Youth Exchange Student

Rotary Youth Exchange students spend up to a year living with a few host families and attending school in a different country.

Whether they participate in Rotary’s long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programs, Youth Exchange Students learn a new way of living, a great deal about themselves, and maybe even a new language. They become ambassadors, teaching people they meet about their country, culture, and ideas. Youth Exchange Students can help bring the world closer – and make some good friends in the process.

More than 8,000 young people each year have experiences like these through Rotary Youth Exchange. Students need not have family members in Rotary; any student is eligible to be a Rotary Youth Exchange Student!

Sunrise Rotary has had wonderful Youth Exchange Students from all over the world! We are so glad to have gotten to know these wonderful young adults and to share their world for a short time.

Former Youth Exchange Students

2008-2009

David came to us from Ulm, Germany. He attended Normal Community High School.
David greatly enjoyed playing and watching sports of all kinds while he was here.  David was very outgoing and was very popular among his peers.

David stayed with the Flessner family and the Parker family.

Though he's only been gone a short time, we miss him already!

2007-2008

Seung Min Kim (aka “Jeff”) came to us from Busan, South Korea.

Jeff stayed with the Bain family and attended Bloomington High School.

We miss him greatly—he is an outstanding young man!

We are always looking for students to send abroad, and for host families here in the Bloomington/Normal community.
